Color Adjustment Guide
Understanding what each adjustment does helps you make intentional corrections to fix common photo problems.
Increases or decreases the overall lightness of the image by adding or subtracting from all pixel values equally. Best for fixing underexposed or overexposed photos.
Increases the difference between light and dark areas. Higher contrast makes blacks darker and whites brighter. Lower contrast creates a flatter, more muted look.
Controls color intensity. Increase for more vivid, punchy colors. Decrease to create a muted, faded look. Set to -100 to convert to black and white.
Shifts all colors around the color wheel. Useful for creating creative color effects, fixing color casts, or creating color variants of an image without changing brightness.
Highlights controls the brightest areas of the image. Shadows controls the darkest areas. These allow targeted adjustments without affecting mid-tones.
Positive values add warm orange tones (like golden hour light). Negative values add cool blue tones (like overcast daylight). Useful for fixing white balance.
Common Color Correction Problems & Fixes
Increase Brightness by +20 to +40. Then increase Shadows by +20 to recover detail in dark areas. Avoid over-brightening — stop when whites look natural.
Reduce Temperature by -20 to -40 to remove the warm yellow cast. Then slightly increase Contrast to restore punch. This fixes photos taken under incandescent lighting.
Increase Saturation by +20 to +30 for more vibrant colors. Increase Contrast by +15 to +25 to add depth. Or try the Vivid preset for a quick fix.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my image sent to a server?
No. All color correction happens entirely in your browser using Canvas API pixel manipulation. Your image never leaves your device and is never stored, shared, or accessible to anyone else.
What adjustments are available?
Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Hue Rotation, Exposure, Highlights, Shadows, Sharpness, and Color Temperature. There are also six quick presets: Vivid, Warm, Cool, Black & White, Vintage, and Faded.
Can I undo a single adjustment without resetting everything?
Yes. Each adjustment has its own reset button next to the slider label. Click it to reset that single adjustment back to 0 while keeping all other adjustments intact.
Is there a watermark on the downloaded image?
No. The downloaded image contains only your original photo with your corrections applied — no watermark, no logo, and no attribution of any kind.
What format is the downloaded image?
Images are downloaded as PNG to preserve the full quality of your corrections without any additional compression. PNG is lossless, so no further quality is lost beyond any conversion from the original format.
How do I convert a photo to black and white?
Set the Saturation slider to -100. This removes all color information, converting the image to grayscale. You can then adjust Brightness and Contrast to control the tonal range of the black and white result. Or use the B&W preset button for a one-click conversion.
